1. Etsy.com
I recognize that many have long known about the fabulousness that is Etsy. But, I am a serious Etsy fanatic this week. I could search the site for hours and hours. Not only does it provide unique options for everything from clothing to jewelry to art to gifts, but it also provides you the opportunity to support local retailers and artists. Even if you don't buy, it's worth it just to check out the great blog.
2. Kettle Corn
If this sounds like a trivial item to you, then you clearly haven't had kettle corn. Amazingly delicious. And, if you get the 100 calorie microwave Smart Pop, then a good choice for a snack. My favorite kettle corn? Trader Joe's kettle corn in the pink and white striped bag. But, watch out. That stuff is like crack (or so I would assume).
3. Real Housewives of New Jersey
You're probably thinking, "Wow, this post is taking a turn for the trashy." It's ok. This isn't my most classy interest. But I can't help it. The mob-like strong-minded housewives of New Jersey are some of my favorite of the Bravo franchise. The accents, the make-up, the we-don't-care-that-we're-in-a-public-places cat fights: I can't get enough. It both intrigues me and makes me happy to live anywhere but New Jersey at the same time. Tonight's episode looks to be a doozy. Bring it.
4. Food, Inc.
I actually saw this amazing documentary several weeks ago, but have been thinking about it a lot lately...probably because I just wrote a post about farmers' markets and kale. If you haven't seen this, then you should. Not only is it about the corporate food industry and the compromises being made in the quality of our foods and our health, but also the effects the industry has on politics, local communities, immigration law, etc. It's fascinating, will open your eyes, and will make you think twice about the foods you buy.
5. Flores Lawn Chairs from Anthropologie
I don't have a yard nor do I have several hundred dollars to spend on my nonexistent yard, but if I did, then I would be all over these lawn chairs. I love the colors, shapes, and whimsical look they create when all together. They are both delicate and funky at the same time. I imagine sitting outside (in my fabulous imaginary patio) drinking festive alcoholic beverages (or lemonade, whatever) with friends on a summer night. Ah, a girl can dream.
